Pwllheli is a small market town, situated on the South coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in North West Wales and is one of Wales's most popular tourist destinations.

Pwllheli depends heavily on the tourist industry and during the height of the season, we see the population swell from around 4000 to many times more than that.

Surrounded by beautiful countryside, miles of sandy beaches and rugged coastline, with many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are lots of places to visit and many activities to engage in. Fishing, golf, sailing, water sports, walking and climbing being just some of the activities on offer.

About Pwllheli

Pwllheli has a history that goes back over 650 years and was, in fact, given its Charter as a Borough by Edward, The Black Prince in 1355. This allowed the community to establish itself as a market town and hold two markets a week, including on the Sabbath. A weekly market is still held every Wednesday on Y Maes in the town centre and during the Summer months, Y Maes also hosts a Sunday market.

By now, Pwllheli has developed into the main shopping center in the area. Some big name supermarkets and a high proportion of independent shops now provide for the needs of the locals and tourists alike.
